We do not recommend customers buy travel insurance for solely the one person with medical conditions through us and travel insurance for the remainder of the party elsewhere, for the simple reason that it is a truism that one of the conditions included in most travel insurance policies is that full details of any traveller whose change of condition may necessitate cancellation or curtailment of the trip must be disclosed. This condition is not often highlighted in the quotation process and many travellers have found the policy excludes their repatriation dependent on the health of the elderly person travelling with them.

Additional schemes we will consider when providing a quote for over 75 travel insurance

These facilities may either be offered by a single company specialising in the over 75 travel insurance market OR may, in turn offer a range of travel insurance products, to cater for differing needs. In some cases, we may obtain quotes directly by an online medical screening tool provided: in other cases the customer may need to contact the insurance provider to obtain terms.

•  Towergate JBI - provides a range of schemes for single trip, long stay, annual travel insurance. Has a different attitude to medical conditions reflecting on the medication taken rather than the actual condition and so may offer extremely competitive rates when compared to insurance providers using medical screening such as Healix.
• Citybond: Has provided schemes for the broker market for many years. Most often used by us for annual travel insurance for the over 75, with rates going up to age of 85
• Purple Choice: provided by Alpha Underwriting. A range of insurance products suitable for the over 75 - including long-stay travel insurance (ideal for visiting relatives for extended periods in countries such as the USA, Canada or Australia.
• Other companies we may use include Axiom, Ageas and a Lloyds Syndicate DTW 1991, that runs the Biba Scheme
